Our MBC and MBBC Sailors have been very busy over the school holidays!

The 2019 Queensland Youth Championships were held in Yeppoon from 26-28 September, and Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College put forward a strong team, joining 130 sailors from all over the State.

The competition kicked off after an intensive three-day training camp, where sailors refined skills and made sure they were reading to race.

In the MBC team, Yael placed 1st in the Optimist Open class, Savannah, with her crew Liam from MBBC, placed 2nd in the 29er/420 class. Kate, Charlie & Iris competed in the 4.7 Laser Skiff category amongst a strong 25-boat fleet. Kate placed 6th overall (2nd female), Charlie placed 21st overall (8th female), and Iris placed 18th overall (6th female). Frances competed in the Laser Radial class against 13 other competitors, placing 4th overall (1st female).

In the MBBC team, Ethan, participating in the Optimist Intermediate class, placed 2nd. Liam, participating in the 29er/420 class, placed 2nd with his skipper Savannah from MBC. Hugo competed in the 4.7 Laser Skiff category, amongst 25 other sailors, with a result of 4th!
