As Moreton Bay College celebrates 125 years, the College is delighted to announce the next major step in its future development, with construction of the new Arts and Technology Centre to begin this month.
The $25 million project is the final project of Stage 1 of the Masterplan and reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to exceptional student-focused environments, modern facilities and future-focused education.
The Arts and Technology Centre will consolidate and showcase the College’s creative arts, design, technologies and engineering programs, with flexible learning spaces designed to support a range of subjects and contemporary approaches to teaching and learning.
The facility will include 10 flexible learning spaces incorporating specialist spaces for creative arts, design, technologies and engineering, as well as a dedicated Learning Commons, a spacious atrium with university-style lecture theatre tiered seating, more than 2500 square metres of internal space across two floors, improved traffic management via the Hargreaves Road entrance with a new entrance, set-down zone and additional parking, a new kitchen and servery space and an outdoor forecourt.
Environmental sustainability sits at the heart of the building’s design, with features such as solar, water tanks, green spaces and efficient ventilation supporting the College’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
This new facility will expand opportunity for students and support creativity, performance, innovation and future-focused learning for years to come. It also represents an important investment in the continued evolution of the MBC experience and strengthens the College’s position as a contemporary, forward-looking school of choice for families.
Construction will continue through 2027, with the building to be commissioned for the start of classes in 2028.
