Inspiring girls since 1901
For more than 110 years, Moreton Bay College has encouraged girls to be the best they can be. Our supportive learning environment inspires inquiring minds, integrity, initiative and genuine caring.
Moreton Bay College is a Prep to Year 12 Uniting Church School for girls and consistently rates as one of Brisbane’s top performing schools. With a rich heritage, exceptional teachers, state-of-the-art facilities, an integrated pastoral care program and extensive co-curricular opportunities, Moreton Bay College offers an outstanding student experience.
A supportive community
The College aims to develop knowledgeable, confident, passionate and empathetic students with the skills to chase down their dreams and make a real difference in the world. The ‘College spirit’ is unmistakable to anyone who spends a few hours at the College.
It’s not just about pride in the College but about a real sense of belonging, camaraderie and cooperation that is genuinely inclusive of girls from many different backgrounds and abilities.
A rich, deep and engaging style of learning
MBC offers a unique Primary School learning framework that is internationally recognised as best practice. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an inquiry based learning framework through which the Australian curriculum is delivered.
Preperation for the journey
Discover a world of opportunities in a positive and caring environment where girls explore the exciting world around them. Our dedicated Prep teachers challenge and foster the individual talents of each girl to extend their learning and knowledge.
Breadth of opportunities
At MBC, each student is encouraged to achieve her personal best in all her pursuits. We see this in the academic outcomes for the graduates of 2017 and through the leadership and inspiration they provided in the College’s broad and diverse co-curricular program.
We encourage girls to engage in a wide range of opportunities:
- Sports including sailing, hockey, equestrian and gymnastics
- Traditional and contemporary music ensembles, and private music tutoring
- Opportunities to express themselves through dance, art, drama and public speaking.
The joy of learning
Learning happens as much through everyday interactions as in the classroom. Teachers are energetic, positive role models and build strong connections with the girls, encouraging a warm atmosphere where laughter sits easily with respect.
Mentoring is not just a function of teachers but is constantly demonstrated in the interactions of older girls helping younger girls and student teams cooperating on projects or everyday tasks. Whether girls are inside the College grounds or out in the community, their distinctive College spirit and natural friendliness shine through.
