The Extreme Wearable Art

This year, in collaboration with our guest artist Claudia Williams from Llani Creative students created a folio of work including a wearable art costume for the school musical production of ‘The Wiz’. The students worked to a brief for The Emerald City cast whereby they were required to design and make both costume and adornment pieces. They investigated Avant Garde and Postmodern artist to help inform their ideas. Students experimented and manipulated found materials to upcycle and recycle through a variety of technical processes to create textures and layers.

Art as Connection

Printing and Mixed Media

In this unit students explore a variety of Mixed media and Printmaking techniques to create a folio of experimental artworks. They investigate artworks by Theo Jansen, Patricia Piccinini, Michelangelo and the genre of Steampunk to consider ways in which art can be communicated by manipulating materials and imagery. Further investigation in the historical movements such as Dada and Surrealism informed features and characteristics of individual works.
