Engaged Learning - 9 June 2016

By the time you receive this edition of the college newsletter, almost all assessments will have been completed. Your children will be tired, but generally satisfied after a busy semester.

College Partnership - 26 May 2016

The various opportunities on offer at the Moreton Bay Colleges provide a wealth of experiences for every child. Increasingly the partnership between the two colleges is seeing boys and girls being provided with science, sport and cultural opportunities that simply would not be available in the absence of this partnership.

Effective learning - 12 May 2016

Effective learning requires focused teaching with the necessary adjustments for the identifiable needs of the individual students catered for. While most of this will occur in the classroom, effective learners know that learning takes place in our minds through the construction of new thoughts, meanings and connections. This means all students are encouraged to be active, curious and reflective in their learning.

Academic Progress - 14 April 2016

I trust that everyone has had a lovely break full of the Christian purpose of Easter. It was terrific to see children in the playground refreshed and excited to be back at school. In my assemblies this week I have been encouraging students to reflect on Term 1 and the rich feedback that they have received from their teachers about their academic progress. Interim report cards, feedback on assessment and teacher notes on criteria sheets are all forms of formal feedback. Informal feedback can be even more powerful in that it can be in real time.
