Expectations and Feedback To Grow and Achieve - 26 March 2015
Parents have told me time and time again that the reason they send their children to study at the Moreton Bay Colleges is that they are nurturing and fulfilling environments where boys and girls are safe, cared for, cared about and encouraged to be responsible towards their school work.
The need for disciplined and focussed classrooms, where students are given the boundaries, expectations and feedback to grow and achieve, is a crucial element that we all need to focus on with energy and commitment. When we all believe that schooling is fundamentally about growing and achieving, we are on the right track to seeing our children leave school with the values, skills and knowledge to fulfil their potential.
Academic Engagement of Students - 12 March 2015
As the parent forums near conclusion I would like to thank the many parents who have given up their time to meet with me and to articulate their views. Parents revealed what they value about the Colleges and what they value about the staff. Parents also had many ideas around school improvement. In synthesising these views a number of themes or consistent messages have emerged and the one I would like to explore in this newsletter is, the academic engagement of our students across the two Colleges.
The Primary Purpose of Education - 26 February 2015
The primary purpose of education requires that schools and families work together to ensure our children grow into grounded adults with exemplary values and wonderful personal attributes. Secondly, we also need to ensure that our students have the skills, knowledge and credentials to make a contribution to the world around them. For most of us, we do this through our work. To get a job that is rewarding and is a pathway to success - as defined by each person - requires each child to work hard, achieve well and earn the qualifications to gain employment.
