At the start of the 2012 school year my journey as the Head of College at Moreton Bay College began. There is something special about this school that can be felt around the campus and I am excited to be part of the MBC team. To me, the ‘something special’ is underpinned by the strong sense of community and family that exists within the College. The caring is not only from the staff members to the students, it is also between staff and between students.
This strong sense of community is integral to a successful and progressive school. While the academic, sporting and cultural achievements of students at Moreton Bay College are renowned across girls’ schools in Australia, there is never an assumption that the College can rest on its laurels. The nature of learners and how girls learn in our dynamic world is always changing, as are employment opportunities and vocational pathways. At Moreton Bay College we hope to prepare our students for the next decade and beyond as well as for today and tomorrow.
To be future’s focussed we must invest in technology, professional development and appropriate infrastructure to ensure that our students receive the very best education that sets them apart from their peers as leaders, innovators and confident young pioneers ready to serve the community within their fields of interest. The College is well advanced with the implementation of the Australian Curriculum and with plans for new buildings that will offer enhanced learning spaces to students and their teachers.
It is a very exciting time to be a member of the Moreton Bay College family and I look forward to sharing that ‘something special’ with you.
