Awards are announced and presented at the Debating and Public Speaking Awards Evening

EDDIE FEE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD (one award from Years 8-11)

  • Awarded to a student from Years 8-11 and is based on performance in current year only
  • Student has performed consistently to the best of her ability
  • Student has potential
  • Student responds appropriately to advice in an effort to attain improved skills and abilities
  • Student has enthusiasm and commitment with regard to all aspects of public speaking

ORIEL HANDLEY YEAR 8 PUBLIC SPEAKING AWARD (one award)

  • Awarded to a Year 8 student and is based on performance in current year only
  • Student has competed in a range of internal and/or externally held public speaking competitions for which all students are eligible to enter
  • Student will have demonstrated a high level of skill relative to her peers
  • Student will have demonstrated responsibility in terms of attending meetings and meeting the demands established in this forum consistently and to the highest standard.

RICHMOND TROPHY FOR JUNIOR PUBLIC SPEAKER OF THE YEAR (one award)

  • Awarded to a Year 8, 9 or 10 student and is based on performance in current year only
  • Student has competed in a range of internal and externally held public speaking competitions for which all students are eligible to enter
  • Student will have demonstrated measurable quality through receiving prizes/places
  • Student will have demonstrated outstanding skill relative to her peers
  • Student will have demonstrated responsibility in terms of attending meetings and meeting the demands established in this forum consistently and to the highest standard.

YEAR 12 PUBLIC SPEAKING AWARD presented by Miss Handley (one award)

  • Awarded to a Year 12 student and is based on performance in current year only
  • Student has competed in a range of internal and externally held public speaking competitions for which all students are eligible to enter
  • Student will have demonstrated measurable quality through receiving prizes/places
  • Student will have demonstrated a high level of skill relative to her peers
  • Student will have demonstrated responsibility in terms of attending meetings and meeting the demands established in this forum consistently and to the highest standard.

O’CONNOR TROPHY FOR SENIOR PUBLIC SPEAKER OF THE YEAR (one award)

  • Awarded to a Year 11 or 12 student and is based on performance in current year only
  • Student has competed in a range of internal and externally held public speaking competitions for which all students are eligible to enter
  • Student will have demonstrated measurable quality through receiving prizes/places
  • Student will have demonstrated outstanding skill relative to her peers
  • Student will have demonstrated responsibility in terms of attending meetings and meeting the demands established in this forum consistently and to the highest standard.

SUE YPINAZAR CONTRIBUTION TO PUBLIC SPEAKING AWARD

  • Awarded to a senior student
  • Student will have demonstrated through coaching, assistance or mentoring, an ongoing and consistent approach to the development of and participation in public speaking
  • On a personal level, the student will have participated in public speaking for a majority of her time at the College to a high level.
