Dr Jillian Charker
Dr Jillian Charker (Smythe) graduated as Dux of Moreton Bay College in 1994.
Currently, she is the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Border Protection with responsibility for all corporate functions of the Department.
Prior to this role, she was Chief Executive Officer of ComSuper, a statutory authority within the Australian Government which provides superannuation administration services for Australian Government superannuation schemes.
Dr Charker has also occupied senior roles in the Australian Bureau of Statistics and has prior experience across a range of agencies in Queensland Government.
She holds a PhD from Griffith University, and a Class 1 Honours degree in psychology, majoring in statistics. In addition, she has completed an Executive Masters degree in Public Administration through the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG). She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Level 2 qualified executive coach through the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership.
In 2012, Dr Charker was a national winner of the Australian Financial Review BOSS Young Executive of the Year award. In 2013, she was awarded one of two national scholarships to attend the Harvard University Women’s Leadership Program.
Jillian was awarded the Moreton Bay College Medal in 2015.
